Deals of the week 19/10/15

After a brief hiatus due to me contracting some kind of Nurgle death plague it’s time for our regular feature where we bring you the best of Steam Weeklong deals, Bundle Stars and Humble Bundle!
Steam Weeklong Deals

Out of the 142 games that are on offer this week, only a few caught my eye – so let’s take a look! First up – and I know I’ve recommended it before – we have Long Live The Queen (-35%, £4.54) which is an interesting little visual novel where you have suddenly become Queen after the untimely death of your mother and you have to avoid the same fate! Next up, we have the unusual Spermination (-50%, £0.99) where you play as a sperm in a shooter style game where your aim is to, quite literally, be the daddy. It’s silly fun and worth your time if its sense of humour appeals to you. Next we have the macabre but hilarious Squishy the Suicidal Pig (-86%, £0.11) which is a platform game with the opposite objective to most platformers – your aim is to find a way to die on each and every level. It’s surprisingly challenging and some of the deaths can be gruesomely complex to pull off. Finally, if you’re a fan of Sakura Spirit and Sakura Angels then this week you can grab Sakura Fantasy Chapter 1 (-50%, £3.49) and Sakura Beach (-50%, £3.49) for cheaps!

Bundle Stars

Well, Bundle Stars has a new look and I must say that I approve. This week we have a sale on individual Paradox titles which is going on for the next few days and you can pick up some deeply discounted titles such a Europa Universalis IV for 75% off. Also new this week is the Brain Eaters Bundle which for the next couple of days is available for 97% off (£1.59) after which the price will rise. This bundle includes a plethora of zombie/ macabre titles to sink your teeth into, such as Dead Pixels and Enola, which is a twisted psychological horror title that I’ve been eyeing up for a while. Next up is the Warlock Complete Bundle (£7.69) which, as you might expect contains Warlock – master of the Arcane: Complete Edition and Warlock 2: The Exiled as well as what seems to be all the DLC for Warlock 2. Next on our whistlestop tour is the Crazy Loot Bundle (£1.39) which includes an eclectic mix of games, such as Luna’s Wandering Stars which is an interesting physics puzzler and Starfence which seems to include some rather large booms in a shooter/tower defence combination. Finally for this week (because I have to stop somewhere!) we have Killer Bundle 5 (£3.69) which contains 10 titles with everything from shooter to RPG to racing and everything inbetween. Ben and I actually split this bundle – he got Rise of the Triad (2013) which apparently is ludicrously glorious, disregards physics willfully and is a hilarious blast. Sadly, the multiplayer isn’t up to much these days, but you can still get a game in on a Saturday night. As for me? Well, I wanted Contradiction because I’m a sucker for FMV games (7th Guest, Net:Zone (yes, really), Command and Conquer and any thing else of that ilk) so of course I need to try it!

Humble Bundle

Moving on to Humble Bundle and this week there is a new main bundle. Humble. Capcom. Bundle. That is all.

Seriously though, there are some titles here that just make me want jump up and down. The lowest pay level on this bundle is $1 for which you get STRIDER, Resident Evil Revelations 2 – Episode 1: Penal Colony, Lost Planet 3 and Bionic Commando: Rearmed. Moving up to the next pay level, you can pay more than the average (currently $8.73) for Resident Evil Revelations, DMC: Devil May Cry and Resident Evil 5 with more games to be added to this tier. Finally, at the top pay level ($15) you can snag Resident Evil 5 Untold Stories Bundle DLC and Ultra Street Fighter IV. I find it hard to be rational about this bundle because I am a huge fan of both Resident Evil and Devil May Cry. It would be nice to have the DMC DLC, but who knows, it may be one of the items to be added! I have DMC on the Xbox 360, but my 360 has definitely seen better days so I can’t wait to grab it on the PC! (If you think this is bad, if they ever do a Silent Hill bundle you will be able to hear the squee from space).

Moving on to the Weekly Bundle and this week its Valentines Day 2. Yeah, I was so confused when I got the email – what you’re getting in this bundle is some pretty sweet visual novels! Pay what you want for the hilarious Hatoful Boyfriend, Asphyxia and Loren the Amazon Princess. Pay more than the average (currently $5.42) to unlock The Royal Trap and the tongue in cheek Sakura Spirit whilst at the next pay level ($11) you also get WORLD END ECONOMiCA episode.02 and TyranoBuilder Visual Novel Studio. The final level ($35) also gets you what seems to be some pyjama bottoms that feature characters from some of the games in the bundle. Odd, but strangely appealing. The current Book Bundle is a selection of Goosebumps audiobooks and a lot of these are classic Goosebumps – most of which I remember from my childhood. If you’re not familiar, Goosebumps is a series of horror books aimed at children which contain just enough scares and goo to keep most kids happy. I only wish It Came From Beneath the Sink was on here – that scared me sheetless as a kid!

That concludes our look at the deals this week. Please let me know if you see any good deals you think I should mention!
